Hi Mehul, i'm really sorry to hear your situation. I was researching some stuff & since you are from Fiji & with the political unrest in your home country, can you take political asylum since you were kinda forced to leave the country. Problem is not only with the desi companies! If you work for the so called MNC, still you will be exploited. At least if you convince your desi employer that you will work for them for X number of years, they will be ready to help you. Sometimes they will go beyond the legal limits if the get return from you. Not true with MNCs. In the name of abiding the law, the will not help you. I have seen many people work MNCs, just at the verge of getting the GC, they got laid off! No need for me to tell what happened to his GC.
So in my opinion the best way to get your GC is go thru the blood suckers! That is the price you have to pay to become citizen of this "Land of Opportunity".

The guy Affirmatively said "It will be June 2002" and gave me red because the dates i gave were behind , Ithought it was funny because we are all playing the prediction game.....

Excuse me for being a little blunt...but
People really need to stand up and see what it takes to bring about change. People are loathe to drive 10 miles and attend a state chapter meeting, and you want to overhaul a system to the extent that you get credit for time/experience in US?
I am not saying its a good or bad thing. What I am saying is, what you are asking for is a major overhaul. GC is driven by A PARTICULAR POSITION offered by A PARTICULAR EMPLOYER, where its proven that NO US CITIZEN WAS WILLING, QUALIFIED AND ABLE TO do the job. How can your previous job get you credit for such a position and petition driven GC process? If you want that, then system needs major change where GC is not drive by one particular job offer from one particular employer who sponsors you.
So basically, you are looking for a RADICAL change in the system. Nothing wrong with dreaming, but kindly show some friggin activity and effort on your part before putting up new ideas on forums.
Otherwise if you are sitting around and

I actually did call in mid Nov. and opened a SR. I then got a canned response about a month ago on how the case is within processing time and blah blah... I call again this morning and apparently their system was experiencing some kind of problem and the rep. wasn't able to open a new SR although she did apologize and thought that 5 months is an excessive amount of time to wait for biometrics. She then transferred me to an IO who based on the service center processing times posted online told me that they're currently processing May 07 and my receipt date of July 12 is not up yet.... What a bunch of BS!
Call them a lot of us did, when we got moved from one center (receipt notice) to another for processing. You should get a FP notice soon after you talked to them!

Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

Usually there will be another message "Notice welcoming permanrent resident sent" . Then, after a few days there will be "Approval notice sent" , the physical approval notice goes to your attorney. You should receive the physical card within 7-10 days.

How do you know that people with more recent priority dates are getting approved and you have been left out? You know this because these members of IV share this info with you and you are talking about using this info against them.
I won't be surprised if this will discourage people to just silently leave the forum after getting approvals.
well if they want to do that.. they can do that... wont discourage us from fighting this injustice against everyone in the legal immigration community... i for one consider the plight of EB-3 at this time to be more than that of EB-2... but why are just fighting among ourselves... instead of doing something as a group ??

I came on extension. I think they are more critical about the companies with whom you are working for. All my friends with extended their visa with no problems. I it is very hard to conclude on this. But scares every one if we keep saying they can not extend their visa.
Be prepared with good documentation and you should be fine.
I don't work with L-1 companies.
I know of this because many of them have h-1b's and want to know how to switch.

They will provide us the detail in October. Till then it does not matter that they wasted all our money, time and effort. Ofcouse the emotional turmoil is least of their consideration.
